DIY Barbell Storage designs
There are two primary options for barbell storage - vertical and horizontal. In this article I’ll show you DIY designs for both of these options.
Barbell storage is one of the easiest DIY projects but if you’d rather save the time and purchase, my affiliates offer some great designs.
Horizontal Barbell storage
1. Barbell, j-cups, and spotter arms storage. This design is simple and effective, utilizing 1x6s and single garage storage hooks. 📸 posted by @34athletes
1. Straight bar and specialty bar storage. The design utilizes 2x4s and two pronged garage storage hooks. This is probably one of the easiest DIY barbell storage projects. Simply attach the 2x4s to the studs in the wall, and attach the hooks to the 2x4s. 📸 posted by Kim John-Un in the Home Gym Community on Facebook
3. Freestanding bar storage attached to a deadlift platform. When wall storage isn’t an option, barbell storage can still be done freestanding as long as it is attached to something sturdy. 📸 posted by @dfurbang

5. Massive multi-bar storage wall. 2x6s with attached 1x4s provides plenty of storage and is fairly simple to put together. 📸 posted by @kevin_rsg_18
6. Large barbell holder made from oak. This thing is functional and beautiful. The lap joints keep everything pretty low profile and super strong. 📸 posted by @rex_n_effect_
7. Kabuki specialty barbell holder. It is well known that specialty bars are particularly difficult to store due to their irregular size. This bar holder was made specifically for these three bars and even includes the Kabuki logo. 📸 posted by @executivefitllc

Vertical barbell storage
1. Single rack attached barbell holder. This one attaches to the upright on a power rack or squat rack and stores a single barbell. 📸 posted by @nvspadilla
2. Multiple bar wall storage. This design can store multiple bars that are all similar in length. 📸 posted by @kaizendiygym
3. Multiple bar vertical storage. Probably one of the easiest options out there, this design utilizes a 1x4 and three garage storage hooks. 📸 posted by Mike Campbell in the Home Gym Community group on Facebook.
4. Mass vertical barbell storage. Similar to #2, but this one utilizes pvc to hold the bars on the top, this design can easily accommodate bars of varying lengths. 📸 posted by @a.nice.rack
